Dye stain on Baltic Birch with Chrysocolla and Catalpa | H: 30/76 W: 14/36 D: 11/28 (in/cm)
Disposition: Collection of Neil Smith and Melisande Sherman

This piece was the result of a “dig” at the giant copper mine in Morenci, AZ, with other members of The New York Mineralogy Club. The mine is famous for it’s high grade ores producing pure copper when smelted. It is also famous to collectors for it’s deposits of Chrysocolla, Assurite, Malicite, and Turquoise crystals. The sculpture employs a large specimen of Chrysocolla dug that day, together with a catalpa section and Baltic Birch terracing.
