The Chicago Chair
October 1986 | New York City
Plywood and Oak | H: 132/335 W: 111/282 D: 84/213 (in/cm)
Disposition: Destroyed

This piece was first runner-up in the Chicago Sculpture Show competition of October 1986. Four scaled-down versions of the same chair, each in the seat of the next, give a telescopic feel to the whole, pushing the idea of function into symbol. This was the third large-scale sculpture in the chair series and was exhibited at the FFA Gallery, Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
