Construction (Double Pyramid) Nickel made this piece from rough oak 4x4’s he found discarded along the railroad tracks. It was the first construction experienced as life size, meaning it had a presence that physically and vertically interacted with the body as the viewer moved around. Nickel explored stacking as a sculptural process as well as the penetration of silhouette as a means for support. |
