Ramrod Monsanto was one of five major corporations in St. Louis. It came under fire for air pollution by its factories, for its agricultural herbicide, and later for genetic engineering of grain crops. Waking up to the smell of burnt toast was normal in St. Louis. This photo was made in 1973, 10 years before the home computer, 20 years before the Web, and 25 years before Google. \“Ramrod\” may be Googled today; it is listed as \“hazardous.\” |
